Hello everyone!
In the spirit of the new year, Medford Community Media is in the process of switching over to a new cloud-based VOD platform! Currently, we are uploading videos to both our new Cloud VOD as well as the old VOD.
However, starting January 26th, our "Watch MCM" button will link to the new Cloud VOD. On the same day, we will send new uploads exclusively to the Cloud VOD and will no longer upload to the old VOD.
What does this mean for our audience and members?
As of 01/26/25, you will still be able to find recordings/shows and play videos from the old VOD. If you have old VOD links in posts or on a website, they'll still play for the time being. At a future date, there will be a cutover and the old VOD will be turned off, but date has yet to be determined. We'll give a heads up once it's on the horizon.
In the meantime, here's some of the features that you can check out on the Cloud VOD as we continue our soft launch:
Variable speed playback
Live channels start automatically, don't need to click a Play button
Documents can be attached to any uploaded video, especially meeting agendas that can be reviewed while viewers watch the program
Cleaner user interface that is easier to navigate overall
Many previous features carried over, including:
Downloadable videos
Playlists aka Programs
Easily copied embed codes and shareable links
Here's some of the other benefits of the new platform
Reduces our digital storage footprint at Medford Community Media as VOD content will be stored on the cloud
Increased functionality, including ability to re-stream one of our 3 channels to YouTube
Moves us to the most up-to-date implementation and off of a less stable legacy platform
Feel free to check out the new VOD and look up meetings, your favorite shows, or even your own shows and get a feel for the interface.
As always, let us know if you have any questions, and we look forward to a great 2026!
Best Regards, Â
